Cart modes
Server-side carts and client-side carts, and why the distinction matters.
Neomi supports two cart models, and which one you use changes very little about the shopper experience but quite a lot about the integration.
Server-side cart
The cart lives in your commerce backend and Neomi’s operations sync to it. This is the production pattern: the basket a shopper builds in the Neomi storefront is the same basket your checkout sees, with no reconciliation step.
Client-side cart
The cart is held in the storefront and handed over as a whole at checkout. This is how catalogs without a cart API are supported, and it is often how an early pilot starts before deeper integration.
How the mode is declared
Cart mode is a property of the connector rather than a runtime decision, so behaviour is predictable per retailer.
